The Background:

Driving innovative solutions – and communicating why they matter – has defined Michael Golden’s career. Michael is the Chair of the 2019 Gery Chico For Mayor of Chicago campaign.

Michael has worked as a strategist on races for the White House, U.S. Senate and U.S. House. He is the cofounder of Newsbound, Complete The Degree and One Million Degrees. Michael is also the author of Unlock Congress and serves as a Senior Fellow at the Adlai Stevenson Center. See More +

Prior to his career as a political and public affairs strategist, Michael worked as a national award-winning television news reporter. His special project and live news coverage earned him honors from the Associated Press, Edward R. Murrow Awards, National Headliner Awards and the Society of Professional Journalists.

Since authoring Unlock Congress in 2014, Michael has given presentations on government and democracy to universities, non-profits and corporations. He is an adjunct professor at Arizona State University and has served in Senior Fellowships at the Open Society Institute, the British-American Project and the Center for American Progress.

Michael’s greatest motivator is his passion for empowering people. He has recruited some of the most prominent business and political leaders in the country to support ground-breaking civic and educational initiatives. He has also raised millions of dollars to help fuel social enterprises – while attracting national news coverage to advance their missions.

Michael has always been drawn to taking on new challenges in new fields. As a result, his background runs wide and deep. He applies all of this experience to help leaders and organizations to clarify their missions and build their most powerful narratives. Michael then coaches clients on how to tell their stories most effectively; how to communicate confidently, comfortably — and CONNECT.
